A recent masterclass that I gave at the Academy of Music in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine, was a great experience for me personally. I was pleasantly surprised how open, expressive and receptive all of the students were. In fact, I should not have been so surprised.
After about 15 trips to Ukraine over the past 2 years, I've realised that the 20/30 year old generation is completely different from their parents' generation. The internet has breathed new life into the youth of today. They are so positive in their outlook, so desirous of widening their horizons; in short there is in my view no difference in appearance or thought between young Ukrainians and the youth around the world. This is a massive reason to be optimistic for Ukraine's future.
